Katni, hundreds of Anganwadi workers and assistants of Katni district demonstrated by raising slogans and staging a dharna in front of the collectorate gate. All of them had reached the collectorate office with their 16 point demands. The main demands of these workers are that their honorarium should be increased and the government should stop giving admission to children between 3 to 6 years in government schools.
Anganwadi workers said that their main demands are that their honorarium should be increased and they should be given a lump sum amount after their retirement. The main reason for this is that children between 3 to 6 years are not able to come to Anganwadi due to which the number of girls in Anganwadis is decreasing. Also, children have to be called to Anganwadi from door to door due to which they are not able to attend Anganwadi centres all the time and the work of Anganwadi also gets disrupted. KG1 and KG2 classes should also be held in Anganwadi centres. Apart from this, all these workers staged a dharna in front of the collectorate gate and demonstrated by raising slogans and handed over a memorandum in the name of the Chief Minister to the Anganwadi officials.
