Jalgaon: Six people died and several others were injured in a tragic road accident on Tuesday morning in the Amalner tehsil of Maharashtra's Jalgaon district. The triple-vehicle collision—involving a motorcycle, a car, and a State Transport (ST) bus—occurred on the Amalner-Dhule highway. Chaos ensued at the scene following the accident.

Accident Occurred Around 7 AM

According to reports, the accident took place around 7 AM on Tuesday near Hotel Vrindavan, close to Mangrul village. It is reported that a car bearing a Gujarat registration number collided head-on with a motorcycle and an ST bus that were traveling from Amalner towards Dhule.

The impact was so severe that the motorcycle was completely wrecked, and its rider died on the spot. Meanwhile, five occupants of the car also lost their lives at the scene.

Five Members of the Same Family Perished

The victims have been identified as Aditya Chandrakant Mahajan, Anita Suresh Mahajan, Nirmala Nandlal Mahajan, Nandlal Gopal Mahajan, and Suresh Vikram Mahajan. All the deceased were reportedly residents of Vyara, Gujarat.

Preliminary information suggests the family members were on their way to attend an engagement ceremony in Amalner when the accident occurred.

Child Trapped in Car Rescued Safely

Upon receiving information about the incident, a Dial-112 team, Police Inspector Dattatray Nikam, Head Constables Kailash Shinde and Ravi Patil, along with local police personnel, rushed to the scene. Relief and rescue operations were launched immediately.

A small child was trapped inside the car during the accident. Through the joint efforts of villagers, police personnel, and ST staff, the child was safely rescued. Additionally, Deepak Dilip Patil, a passenger on the ST bus, sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police Investigating the Incident

The bodies of all the deceased have been sent to the local hospital for post-mortem examinations. The police have initiated an investigation into the causes of the accident, and a detailed probe is underway.

A wave of grief has swept across both Maharashtra and Gujarat following the deaths of several members of the same family in this heart-wrenching accident. Local residents have urged the administration to implement additional traffic safety measures on this route.
