Nagpur. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has completely dismissed speculation about playing an active role in national politics. He clarified that his primary focus at the moment is Maharashtra and he has no plans to leave the state. Speaking to reporters in Nagpur on Sunday, he said, "I am in Nagpur today and will leave for Mumbai this evening. My full focus is on the affairs of Maharashtra."

Discussions began after the Delhi visit

Fadnavis's brief visit to Delhi on Saturday became a topic of discussion in political circles. Meanwhile, news of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation sparked speculation that Fadnavis could be given a key responsibility in central politics. However, the Chief Minister dismissed these speculations, stating clearly that his focus is solely on the development and administration of Maharashtra.

Taking a dig at the opposition over the 'Tiranga Rally'

Fadnavis also responded to the 'Tiranga Rally' organized by the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Mumbai. He said that if both parties wanted to celebrate the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, he had no objection. He sarcastically said that it was a good thing that the opposition had an opportunity to celebrate. He also said that an issue like the NEET paper leak is not about any individual or party, but concerns the future of millions of youth in the country.

Supported the Central Government's action in the NEET case

The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision regarding the NEET paper leak and said that the Central Government has taken the concerns of the youth seriously. He informed that the government will introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha on Monday. According to him, this law is being introduced to prevent irregularities in the examination system and protect the interests of students, and will be the first of its kind.

Uddhav Thackeray also attacked

Fadnavis also targeted Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray's recent statements. He said that Thackeray has made similar statements several times over the past decade, but they have had no significant political impact. He claimed that the people of the country still stand firmly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also cited Prime Minister Modi's recent Instagram video, saying it has set global records.

These statements by Fadnavis clearly indicate that his current political priority is Maharashtra, and that there is no truth to the rumors of him entering national politics.
