Araria, Bihar: Once again a bridge under construction fell prey to corruption. The bridge being built on Bakra river in Araria collapsed in no time. A part of the bridge submerged in the river and its three pillars were washed away in the water. Recently, the Agwani bridge collapsed in Bhagalpur. Despite a lot of politics over it, the government did not learn from that incident and once again the bridge fell prey to corruption.

According to the information, this bridge was being constructed on Bakra river in Araria at a cost of 12 crores. The construction work of the bridge was going on at Domra dam between Bakra river and Kursakata. As soon as the flow of water in the river increased on Tuesday afternoon, a part of the bridge submerged in the river in no time. Three pillars of the bridge were washed away in the water. After this incident, there is panic among the villagers. After getting information about the incident, all the senior officials of the district including the officials of the construction company have reached the spot and are taking stock of the situation. There is deep anger among the villagers about this incident. The villagers say that due to the negligence of the officials, the bridge being built at a cost of crores has been washed away in the water. The villagers said that if the eyes of the departmental officials were not blinded by the kindness of the contractor, then today the Padariya bridge being built on the Bakra river would not have been submerged in the river. The construction of the bridge had raised great hopes among the people of the area, but due to the negligence of the departmental officials and the arbitrariness of the contractor, crores of rupees were washed away in the water. The people of the area have demanded action against the contractor and the officials.
