Datia. Congress has dealt a significant blow to the BJP by securing a significant victory in the by-election for the Datia Assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh. Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh defeated Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ashutosh Tiwari by a margin of 6,016 votes. According to official results released by the Election Commission of India, Ghanshyam Singh received 66,757 votes, while BJP's Ashutosh Tiwari came in second with 60,741 votes.

Seat Vacant Due to Revocation of Rajendra Bharti's Membership

The by-election for the Datia Assembly seat was necessitated when Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti's membership in the Assembly ended. His membership was revoked following his conviction and three-year sentence in a 2015 bank fraud case, forcing the Election Commission to hold a by-election for the seat.

Voting took place on July 30, with a voter turnout of 71.44 percent.

Vote Counting at 21 Counters

The counting process was completed at Datia Polytechnic College. A total of 21 counting counters were set up, with 20 counters for counting EVM votes and one counter for counting postal ballots. Three staff members were deployed at each counter, as per Election Commission guidelines, and the counting process was completed following the established protocols.
