Patna, former JDU national president and former Union Minister RCP Singh has taken a big political decision. He has joined Prashant Kishore's party Jan Suraj. About seven months ago, he started his party named 'Aap Sabki Awaaz' (ASA). Today he also merged his party with Jan Suraj.
Who is RCP Singh?
RCP Singh has been an Indian Administrative Service officer. He has also worked for a long time as the Principal Secretary of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. However, after differences with Nitish Kumar, he joined the BJP and then after being sidelined by the BJP, he announced the formation of his own party.
Ramchandra Prasad Singh was born on 6 July 1958 in Mustafapur in Nalanda district of Bihar. He belongs to the Kurmi caste of Other Backward Classes (OBC). He completed his early education in his village, then passed 12th from Patna Science College and got a Bachelor's (Hons) degree in History from Patna College in 1979. He then obtained a master's degree in international relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 1982.
RCP Singh was a 1984 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer. He started in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) but later got selected in the IAS. He worked as a collector and district magistrate in several districts, starting from his first posting as a joint magistrate in Sultanpur. During central deputation, he was private secretary to Nitish Kumar when Nitish was the Union minister in the Railways and Agriculture Ministry. After Nitish became the Chief Minister of Bihar in 2005, Singh was brought back to Bihar and played a key role as Principal Secretary in the Home Department and Cabinet Secretariat.
