Prayagraj, A new update has come in the murder case of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed. Sources said that the attackers were given contract to kill both. The three accused involved in the murder of Atiq and Ashraf had also received Rs 10 lakh each in advance. The source said that one of the three accused, Mohit alias Sunny, had come in contact with the handler in the jail itself, where he was given the betel nut to commit the murder. It has also been learned that the handler had also provided pistols and cartridges to all three.

An FIR has been lodged against Lavlesh Tiwari (Banda), Mohit alias Sunny (Hamirpur) and Arun Maurya (Kasganj) in the murder of Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf. Police said that a case has been registered against the three accused under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code, besides the Arms Act. The police caught the three accused in the night itself and recovered the weapons used in the incident.

According to sources, all the three attackers already knew each other. Sunny and Lavlesh met in Banda Jail, later they became friends, while Sunny and Arun were already friends and it was Sunny who introduced Lavlesh to Arun. Ateeq (60) and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by assailants on Saturday night when the police were taking them to Prayagraj Medical College for medical examination.

Shooter number 3: Mohit alias Sunny – Sunny is a resident of Hamirpur and it is suspected that he is related to a big gang. Sunny came out of jail only 6 months ago. He left his home 12 years ago. It is being told that Sunny has also worked for Sundar Bhati gang.
