Air India pilot commits suicide in Mumbai
Boyfriend arrested for this reason
A 25-year-old Air India female pilot committed suicide by hanging herself with a data cable in her rented flat in Mumbai. A police official gave this information on Wednesday. According to the police, in connection with this incident, the police have arrested the woman's boyfriend on charges of instigating murder. He said that Srishti Tuli, who lived in Kanakia Rain Forest Building in Marol area of Mumbai, committed suicide in the early hours of Monday. Police took her boyfriend Aditya Pandit (27) into custody on Tuesday on the basis of a complaint by a relative of Srishti. He said that Aditya is accused of harassing Srishti, abusing her and forcing her to stop eating non-vegetarian food.
According to the officer of Powai police station, Srishti was a resident of Uttar Pradesh and was living in Mumbai for work since June last year. Srishti and Aditya met two years ago while doing a commercial pilot course in Delhi and a love affair developed between them. The police officer said that the case of suicide came to light when Aditya left for Delhi by car.
During the trip, Srishti called Aditya and said that she will take her own life. Soon after, Aditya reached Mumbai and found the door of Srishti's flat locked from inside. Aditya got the door opened with the help of a locksmith and found Srishti hanging from a data cable, he said. Srishti was then rushed to Seven Hills Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
No suicide note was found in the house, he said. According to the police officer, Srishti's relative later approached the police and alleged that Aditya often harassed her and also humiliated her in public. Apart from this, Aditya also pressured her to change her eating habits, the relative claimed.
Based on the complaint of Srishti's relative, Aditya was arrested under Section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced in court, from where he was sent to four-day police custody, the officer said.
