A jeep full of wedding guests overturned in Vidisha, MP
4 people died, 13 injured
Four people died and 13 others were injured when a jeep carrying wedding guests overturned in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh in the early hours of Friday. The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary for postmortem, while the injured are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over the incident. Along with this, an assistance amount of Rs 2 lakh each has been announced to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
Vidisha District Collector Anshul Gupta said that the accident took place near Lateri town at around 3 am on Friday, when a jeep carrying wedding guests was returning from Indore to Siroj.
He said that one of the injured was referred to Bhopal as his condition was critical, while the rest are being treated in hospitals in Vidisha and Lateri. Four people have died in this accident. He said that the deceased have been identified as Narayan (20), Gokul (18), Basanti Bai (32) and Hazari (40).
Immediately after the accident, senior officials including the Collector and Superintendent of Police and local BJP MLA Umakant Sharma reached the spot to help in the rescue operation.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav wrote on the social media platform 'X', "The news of the sudden death of four people due to the accident of a bus going from Indore to Siroj in Lateri tehsil area of Vidisha district is very sad. My condolences are with all the bereaved families in this hour of grief. With the help of the district administration, proper arrangements have been made for the treatment of the injured in the accident in the district hospital. Instructions have been given to provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Vishvagruta Fund to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the seriously injured. I pray to Baba Mahakal to give a place to the pious souls of the deceased in his lotus feet, speedy recovery to the injured and strength to the bereaved families to bear this deep sorrow. ।।Om shanti।।''
