07 thefts in Katni exposed

Katni, Police has exposed 07 thefts that took place at different places in NKJ police station area of Katni. Police recovered stolen goods worth 4 lakh 75 thousand 5 hundred rupees from the possession of the accused. The interesting thing is that the thieves did not sell the stolen goods but took gold loan. This is really the first incident of its kind.
Katni SP Abhijeet Ranjan said that a team was formed in the police station to investigate the theft incident and search for the accused and informers were deployed. From the information received from the informers, names of some suspects were obtained whose whereabouts were being searched. Meanwhile, information was received from the informer that the suspects of theft, Nitesh, Rahul Ben, Vicky Ben were seen around Durga Chowk Katni. To verify the information, the team immediately conducted checking and stopped all the three suspects at Durga Chowk. The suspects were caught from Durga Chowk and brought to the police station for interrogation regarding the theft. When they were strictly questioned about the theft, they told that Nitesh Dwivedi had stolen the motorcycle and along with Rahul Ben and Vicky Ben, they had stolen gold and silver jewellery by breaking into houses at other places. They told that the said thieves had mortgaged the stolen jewellery to a gold loan company instead of selling it to goldsmiths. So that they would never be caught. On strict interrogation, they confessed to committing a total of seven thefts. The arrested accused include Nitesh Dwivedi resident of Roshan Nagar, Rahul Ben resident of Gayatri Nagar, Vikash alias Vicky Ben resident of Gayatri Nagar police station Kotwali Katni. Gold and silver jewellery worth Rs. 2,75,000, a motorcycle worth Rs. 70,000, an amplifier, two microphones worth Rs. 20,500 and iron rods worth Rs. 1,10,000 were recovered from these thieves. Stolen goods worth a total of Rs. 4,75,500 were recovered.
