Saharanpur. Villagers upset with the liquor shop in Rankhandi village of Deoband area locked the shop and sat in protest in front of it. According to the information received, a liquor shop was opened several years ago on the Rankhandi-Ghalauli road of Deoband Kotwali area. Since then, the villagers have been protesting against it, demanding that the shop be shifted to some other place. But the angry villagers got the shop closed on their own as their pleas were not heard at any level and sat in protest in front of it. The villagers protesting say that on one side near the shop, there is a temple of Mata and cremation ground, while on the other side there is the tomb of Peer Baba. Due to the shop being open on the way, people face difficulty in reaching the said religious places and cremation ground. On receiving the information, police and excise department officials reached the spot and tried to convince the villagers. On this occasion, District General Secretary of Kisan Mazdoor Sangthan, Rajkumar Pundir, Divisional Secretary Narendra Kumar, Satya Kumar, Anil Kumar, Shubham, Amrish, Pradeep, Dharampal Singh, Kehar Singh etc. were present.
