Saharanpur. Kairana Lok Sabha seat of Saharanpur division is the only seat in western Uttar Pradesh where two influential political families are contesting face to face. The ruling BJP has again declared its MP Pradeep Chaudhary as its candidate. The SP-Congress alliance has fielded Iqra Hasan, the granddaughter of former MP Akhtar Hasan of Kairana's influential political family and daughter of former MP Munawwar Hasan and younger sister of MLA Nahid Hasan, who has a law education from London. Iqra Hasan's mother Tabassum Hasan has been MP from BSP and RLD twice from this seat. Pradeep Chaudhary is a Hindu and Iqra Hasan is a Muslim Gurjar. It is important that in this entire Gurjar dominated area, Hindu and Muslim Gurjars have very close social and political relations. But like many other election contests in the past, this time too the contest has been decided between the candidates of these two communities. Iqra Hasan's father Munawwar Hasan belongs to Kairana and her mother Tabassum Hasan belongs to Nakud area. Both the areas fall in Kairana parliamentary constituency. Iqra Hassan's father Akhtar Hassan became MP from Kairana in 1984 on Congress ticket. He was also the Chaudhary of Gurjar Khap. He was also the chairman of Kairana twice. His elder son Munawwar Hasan was a member of the Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Following his death in a road accident in 2008, his wife Tabassum Hasan was elected MP in 2009. In 2014, Iqra Hasan's elder brother Nahid Hasan was elected MLA. The 2017 election was also won by Nahid Hasan. In the last assembly elections, when Nahid Hasan was in jail, the reins of his election campaign were in the hands of Iqra Hasan. Iqra Hasan had made her brother win while he was in jail. In that election, Iqra Hasan had made the election easy for her brother with her magical influence. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had long decided to make him the Lok Sabha candidate and declared his name in his third list. This is the second election of BJP candidate Pradeep Chaudhary as Lok Sabha. In 2017, Pradeep Chaudhary left Congress and joined BJP and became BJP MLA from Gangoh. Then he defeated BSP's Nauman Masood and in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Pradeep Chaudhary defeated Iqra Hasan's mother Tabassum Hasan by a margin of 92 thousand votes. By winning this difficult seat, Pradeep Chaudhary won the hearts of the BJP leadership so much that this time his name was declared in the first list itself. Prime Minister Narendra Modi likes Pradeep Chaudhary very much. Humble and simple Pradeep Chaudhary was MLA many times. His father, late Master Kanwar Pal Singh, was also an MLA several times. Master Kanwar Pal Singh was brought into electoral politics by the veteran leader of Saharanpur, Qazi Rashid Masood. Today Pradeep Chaudhary is among the respected leaders of his Hindu Gurjar community as well as Western Uttar Pradesh. Both the candidates have become the center of attraction in this election. There are a few days left for the announcement of elections but both the candidates are presenting their views among the voters.
