Police-administration is on alert mode regarding Buddha Purnima bath. Additional police force has been deployed at Ganga Ghats. Police will keep a special eye on suspects. Traffic diversion plan has also been prepared for devotees coming from UP and other states including Delhi-Haridwar highway. Vehicles from other states will not be allowed to enter Haridwar city.

There will be a ban on heavy vehicles till Buddha Purnima bath is over. Apart from this, heavy vehicles will be stopped at the border if there is a large crowd. Apart from this, movement of all types of vehicles Vikram, auto rickshaw and taxi will be restricted from Laltara bridge to Shivmurti in the city. SSP Pramod Singh Dobal said that if the traffic pressure increases during Buddha Purnima bath festival, vehicles will be diverted from Naglimarti and brought to Bairagi Camp Parking, Hoarding Area.

From where the vehicles will be released gradually. Cheela Marg will be used only for exit from Rishikesh. If the traffic pressure increases at Chandichowk, one-way will be implemented through 4.2 diversion. Under normal traffic pressure, vehicles will be sent from Gurukul Kangri Service Lane via Singhdwar towards Shankaracharya Chowk, which will slow down the entry of vehicles into the city.

If the pressure of vehicle exit increases at the toll plaza, the canal path will be used for exit. If the traffic pressure increases, private buses going to Dehradun, Rishikesh will be sent via Mohand. Strict security arrangements have been made for the bath. Along with this, a traffic diversion plan has also been prepared for the highway and internal roads.

This traffic arrangement is for vehicles from UP, Delhi-NCR and other states

Vehicles coming to Haridwar for Buddha Purnima bath from Delhi-NCR, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Moradabad, Najibabad of UP and Punjab-Haryana will be able to come directly to Haridwar from Haridwar Shankaracharya Chowk. Parking of these vehicles will be at Alaknanda, Deendayal, Pantdweep and Chamkad Island.

In case of heavy traffic pressure, these vehicles will be parked at Bairagi Camp via Mangalore, Nagalimarti, Laksar, Jagjitpur, SM Tiraha, Shanichowk, Matrisadan culvert. In case of heavy traffic pressure, vehicles will be brought to Haridwar via Saharanpur, Mandawar, Bhagwanpur, Saliyar, Bijauli Chowk, Saharanpur Bypass, Chhutmalpur Bypass, Biharigarh Mohand, Dehradun and Rishikesh.

Vehicles coming from Moradabad to Najibabad will be able to come to Chandi Chowk via Najibabad, Chidiyapur, Shyampur. Big vehicles will be diverted from 4.2 and parked at Gaurishankar Neeldhara Parking. Challan action will be taken against vehicles parked on the roads. Appeal is made to strictly follow the traffic rules.

Tight security arrangements at Ganga Ghats

Police and administration have started preparations for Buddha Purnima bath. The entire area has been divided into 13 zones and 40 sectors. DM Karmendra Singh said that six zonal and six sector magistrates have been kept reserved. Entry of heavy vehicles will be stopped on the highway from the night of 11 May.

It was told that due to Buddha Purnima bath and Chardham Yatra happening together, lakhs of devotees are expected to arrive. Caution is being taken regarding the bath. It was told that ADM Deependra Singh Negi has been made in-charge of law and order of the district. Along with this, City Magistrate Kushm Chauhan has been made in-charge of the city.

It was told that during this time ambulances and stretchers will be kept at CCR. The Municipal Commissioner has been given the responsibility of improving the cleanliness of the ghats. Along with this, the Regional Manager of Roadways was instructed to make arrangements for the drivers and conductors of the roadways buses not to take the vehicle to the restricted area during the bathing festival.
