These new rules of Fastag are being implemented from February 17
If you do not pay attention, double tax will be deducted
If you are a Fastag user, then this is important news for you. From tomorrow i.e. February 17, 2025, some rules related to Fastag are changing. National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has made some changes regarding toll tax and Fastag rules. These changes are being implemented to simplify toll tax collection, so that people do not face any problem. If Fastag users do not pay attention to these rules, then they may also have to pay double tax. Let us know what these new rules are.
When will payment not be made?
According to a circulation issued by NPCI on January 28, 2025, if the Fastag remains blacklisted for one hour before reading or 10 minutes after reading, then payment will not be made. At the same time, if the Fastag balance is low or the Fastag is blocked for some reason, then the transaction will be rejected. In such a case, double the toll fee will be charged from the vehicle owner as a penalty.
These rules of Fastag will be applicable from February 17
If the Fastag is blacklisted till 60 minutes before the tag read, then payment will not be made.
Users will get a 70-minute window to improve their Fastag status.
If blacklisted due to low balance or technical reasons, 70 minutes will be given for recharge.
Even if there is a negative balance in the Fastag, the vehicle will pass through the toll plaza. After the vehicle passes, the toll charge will be deducted from the security deposit of the Fastag.
The amount deducted from the security deposit will be returned on the next recharge.
