Saharanpur, the state-run Maa Shakumbhari University, will hold its fourth convocation on Tuesday, July 21st, at the city's Jan Manch. Professor Dr. Vimala Y, the second Vice Chancellor since its inception, announced on Sunday that the chief guest, the Governor and Chancellor of the state, Anandiben Patel, will present a total of 99 gold medals, including 87 to female students. Vice Chancellor Dr. Vimala stated that 66 of the 87 gold medals will be awarded to female students, while 21 will be awarded to male students. Female students have outperformed male students this time as well. A total of 221 colleges in Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli districts are affiliated to this university, with four more colleges added this time. This time, the number of sponsored gold medals has increased from four to six. Significantly, the current Governor, Anandiben Patel, has been the chief guest at all four convocations of this university. This university was established through the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, responding to the demands of the local community. It was inaugurated on December 2, 2021, by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The university's first Vice Chancellor was Hriday Shankar Singh.
