Sold 20 tons of scrap by posing as fake GST officer
Gang exposed; 4 miscreants arrested
Kushinagar police on Tuesday exposed a gang selling 20 tons of scrap by posing as fake GST officers. The police team recovered scrap worth Rs 50 lakh along with a truck and a pickup vehicle and arrested four vicious miscreants. The SP has given a reward of Rs 25,000 to the team that exposed the matter.
SP Santosh Kumar Mishra, while giving this information in a press conference, said that on March 23, truck driver Pramod Yadav, son of Kishundev Yadav, resident of Thadhibahar police station Vishunpura, had submitted a complaint in Kasya police station and told that he was going to Punjab with 20 tons of scrap from Siwan Bihar on the night of March 19. Some unknown persons, claiming to be GST officers, caught him in the name of checking in Gida police station area of Gorakhpur. His scrap goods were unloaded in Kasya area and he was held hostage in a room for eight hours. Kasya police had registered a case in this matter. The SP had constituted four police teams under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Kushinagar Ritesh Kumar Singh and Area Magistrate Kasya Kundan Kumar Singh for quick disclosure of the incident and arrest of the accused.
The joint team of Kasya Police and SWAT arrested four accused involved in the incident from near the Shiva temple located on the bypass road from Bairia to Gopalgarh in Kasya police station area and successfully disclosed the incident by recovering 16 tonnes of scrap sold on their information and a truck and a pickup used in the crime and a total of Rs 22,000 cash from the scrap sale. The arrested accused have been identified as Alok Singh son Rakesh Singh resident Budhnagari Kasya, Rajesh Patel son Suryabhan Patel resident Bahorapur Kasya, Sonu Kashyap son Chhiddu Kashyap resident Kanthipur police station Shivrajpur district Kanpur, Sunil Gupta son Laxman Gupta resident Singhanjodi police station Kuberstan. On the basis of recovery and arrest, the police is engaged in legal action. Police teams have been deployed to arrest other accused involved in the incident. Soon they will also be arrested.

The SP said that during interrogation, the accused told that we have an organized gang. We and our associates together, by posing as fake GST officers, stop goods carrying vehicles, take them in our possession, mislead the driver and embezzle the goods loaded on the vehicles. After this, we earn illegal money by selling it.

Kushinagar SP Santosh Kumar Mishra said that the Kushinagar Police team has exposed the gang selling scrap by posing as fake GST officers. The police have recovered goods worth 50 lakhs along with the vehicles. In this, one truck, one pickup, 16 tonnes of missing scrap material and 22 thousand rupees in cash have been recovered. Kasya Police and SWAT team have been rewarded with a reward of 25 thousand rupees.
