Saharanpur, District Officer Dr. Dinesh Chandra, as soon as he got free from election related work, reached his residence to caress the cows. Inspected the cow shed built at the residence and took stock of the arrangements like green fodder, straw, water, shed etc. in the cow shed. During the inspection he found all the arrangements satisfactory. District Magistrate Dr. Dinesh Chandra's love for cows is not hidden from anyone. The District Magistrate keeps visiting the cow shelters located in the district. To ensure that the cows do not face shortage of green fodder, he promoted the production of Napier grass. His innovative effort of Napier grass is being adopted across the state. District Magistrate Dr. Dinesh Chandra, while explaining about the production of Napier grass, said that this is an innovative effort towards continuous green fodder management. He said that the method of planting this grass is also very simple and it is ready in about 70 to 80 days. It is nutritious and healthy for animals. He appealed to the farmers to sow Napier grass as much as possible. By sowing Napier grass, availability of green fodder can be ensured throughout the year in various cowsheds of the district. Napier grass increases milk productivity in animals.
