Champaran, Divisional Commissioner reviewed the preparations for Lok Sabha elections 2024 in East Champaran and West Champaran districts. Commissioner, Tirhut Division, Shri Gopal Meena and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Bettiah Zone, Shri Jayant Kant along with District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of East Champaran and West Champaran and Superintendent of Police Bagaha (West Champaran) Dr. Rajendra Prasad located at Collectorate East Champaran, Motihari. Preparations for Lok Sabha General Election-2024 were reviewed in the Sabha Bhavan. During the review, assistant electoral officers of the assemblies of both the districts and nodal officers of the cells were also present.
Addressing the officials present in the review meeting, the Commissioner said that the officials should work with mutual coordination. Do all the work yourself and keep an eye on it. Dependence on subordinate personnel will have to be reduced. All election work is important and has to be completed on time. Officers and personnel should fully comply with the Model Code of Conduct. The Commissioner said that do not go to any party or festival where political people are present. Keep yourself absolutely impartial.
During the review, the Commissioner obtained information about the election work from all the assistant election officials one by one. Many questions were asked by the Commissioner regarding C-Vigil App, replacement of faulty EBM, voting through postal ballot, service voters, disabled people, facilities given to voters above 85 years of age, role of VVPAT during counting of votes, which the officials answered very comfortably. District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal explained the preparations of the district administration through a power point presentation. The District Magistrate said that there are a total of 12 assembly constituencies in East Champaran district, for which a total of 12 dispatch centers and mud houses are being built assembly wise, which are located in different fields at seven locations. This will greatly facilitate sending polling personnel, district police force and paramilitary force to the polling station. All the work and preparations to be done three-four days before the date of voting were explained in detail. The need of vehicles for election work and the availability of vehicles in the district were explained. The District Magistrate said that sufficient number of vehicles are available in the district.
Regarding the training of polling personnel, the District Magistrate said that more than 35 thousand polling personnel have been given training in the first phase. In order to provide quality training, senior officials have been regularly visiting the training center and taking stock of the training.
The District Magistrate said that a total of 3498 polling stations have been made in the district which are located in 1885 buildings. Of these, there are 92 buildings where four or more polling stations have been set up, 200 buildings have three polling stations each, 926 buildings have two polling stations each and 667 buildings have one polling station.
The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, West Champaran also informed the Commissioner about the preparations made there. The Commissioner praised the work and preparations of the district administration regarding the Lok Sabha elections.
At the beginning of the review meeting, all the officials were welcomed by District Magistrate East Champaran while everyone was thanked by Additional Collector East Champaran. Deputy Development Commissioner, Additional Collector, Municipal Commissioner, all sub-divisional officers, DCLR and district level officers were present in the meeting.
