Rekha Gupta becomes the Chief Minister of Delhi
Seal taken in the meeting of the Legislative Party; will take oath as CM tomorrow
The suspense over the name of the Chief Minister in Delhi is over. Rekha Gupta has been elected as the new Chief Minister of the state. Tomorrow i.e. on 20th February, the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister of Delhi will begin at around 11.00 am. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena will administer the oath to the new Chief Minister and the Cabinet at 12.35 pm. Earlier this program was proposed for 4.30 pm.
On Wednesday evening, a meeting of the newly elected MLAs of BJP was held in Delhi, in which Rekha Gupta was elected as the leader of the Legislative Party. Rekha Gupta will meet Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and stake claim to form the government and the new government will be sworn in at Ramlila Maidan on 20th February.
Who is Rekha Gupta
Rekha Gupta is an MLA from Shalimar Bagh assembly seat of Delhi. She is currently the General Secretary of Delhi BJP and also the National Vice President of BJP's Mahila Morcha. 50-year-old Rekha was born in 1974 in Nandgarh village in Jind district of Haryana. Her father was an officer in the State Bank of India.
BJP had entrusted them with the responsibility for the meeting of the legislative party
Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, 19 February, the BJP Parliamentary Board appointed observers for the election of the leader of the party's legislative party in Delhi. BJP had appointed Ravi Shankar Prasad and OP Dhankar as observers. The BJP legislative party meeting was held in the evening in their presence.
Chief Ministers of many states may attend
Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers of BJP-NDA ruled states are also expected to be present in the program. In such a situation, Delhi Police has made every effort for security. Since the Prime Minister will be present in the program, the SPG circle will be present for his security.
Many guests from Bollywood can also come
The senior officer said that apart from leaders, some people from Bollywood are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony, apart from this, saints and sages have also been invited there. Special security arrangements have been made for the event. A multi-layered cordon of the SPG, paramilitary forces and Delhi Police will be in place.
