Saharanpur, Thugs posing as fake police cheated a person of Rs 80 thousand. The victim felt cheated when he asked for more money. After this he lodged a complaint on the cyber crime helpline and demanded action. According to the information received, Karan Singh, resident of village Berkhedi, runs a watchmaker's shop at Kakrali base of Gangoh. His son works in Gurgaon. According to the victim, a person called him and told that he was talking to Gurgaon Kotwali. Told that four youths including her son have been arrested by Gurgaon Police on charges of rape. A demand of Rs 80 thousand was made to free the son. Hearing this, the victim got nervous and made two transactions of Rs 40,000 each through phone pay on the given number. After this the swindler told the higher officials not to agree to Rs 80 thousand and asked for Rs 1 lakh twenty thousand more. When the victim became suspicious, he called his son and came to know of the fraud.
