Saharanpur | Deoband, Martyrdom day of the leader of martyrs, Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji was celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm at Gurudwara Shri Gurunanak Sabha. While telling the congregation about the martyrdom history of Guru Ji, Bhai Gurdayal Singh said that Guru Ji was a great scholar of Bani. While editing Shri Guru Granth Sahib, he recorded the Bani of 36 great Vaanikars without any discrimination. On giving shelter to the son of Emperor Jahangir, Jahangir imprisoned Guru Ji in 1606 at the behest of Chandu and offered him to either accept Islam or become a martyr. When Guru Ji did not convert, he was martyred by making him sit on a hot pan and pouring sand on his head and giving him severe torture. Guru Ji sacrificed his body by following the Bani Tera Bhaana Meetha Lage. On the occasion of Martyrdom Day, the 40-day series of Sukhmani Sahib recitations being organised by the Women's Sukhmani Seva Society also came to an end. After the Gurbani Kirtan, a stall was set up and cold sherbet was served to passersby. During this Seth Kuldeep Kumar, Virendra Singh Uppal, Gurjot Singh Sethi, Gurvinder Singh Chhabra, Gurvinder Singh Bedi, Charan Singh, Tanishq Arora, Chandradeep Singh, Rajpal Singh, Harshpreet Manchanda, Ajay Nijhara, Harsh Bharti, Harsh Narang, Aman Sethi, etc were present.
