Saharanpur, In the village Rampur Badkala situated in the Shivalik foothills, the thatched houses and animal shed of eight families were burnt to ashes due to a fire that destroyed household items and grains. There was chaos as soon as the fire broke out. The villagers reached the spot and took out the cattle with great difficulty. On receiving information from the village head, the fire brigade arrived one hour late and by the time everything was burnt and destroyed. According to the information received, suddenly strong flames started rising in the cattle shed built adjacent to Tejpal's house in Majre Rampur of village Rampur Badkala of Kotwali Mirzapur. Before the villagers could understand anything, the fire reached the cattle shed of Reena, wife of Mahavir. After this, the fire engulfed the houses and cattle sheds of many villagers.
Seeing the fire, the villagers reached the spot. They somehow brought the fire under control by calling for water tankers from a nearby poultry farm and a stone crusher. After village head Sanjay Choudhary informed the fire brigade, it arrived late by an hour. Reena's lawnmower, engine, five quintals of grains, bed and utensils were burnt in the fire. Household items, four quintals of grains and chaff kept in the nearby house of Satish were burnt. The grains and chaff kept in the cattle sheds of Soni, Monu, Rajpal, Pramod and Subhash were burnt to ashes. Satish's wife Ruma was in a bad condition and was crying. She was repeatedly saying that her son Rajeev was going to get engaged after a few months. He somehow managed to get a gold ring and a silver chain made for his daughter-in-law. By working as a laborer in wheat harvesting, he had also collected grains and in one fell swoop, everything was burnt to ashes. Reena said that after the death of her husband Mahavir in an accident last year, the responsibility of three children has fallen on her. She was somehow working as a laborer to feed her children. Now, the grains, bedding, utensils, clothes, chaff collected after working as a laborer for wheat harvesting, everything got burnt. There was nothing left in the house. SDM Behat Deepak Kumar reached the spot and directed Lekhpal to provide all possible help to the victims. The victims will be helped after getting an assessment.
