Saharanpur, The campaign for the first phase of 18th Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 19 will close after 24 hours at 6 pm tomorrow on Wednesday. Of the four Lok Sabha seats in Saharanpur division, Saharanpur and Bijnor are facing a triangular contest between Congress, BJP and BSP and RLD-BSP-SP respectively. Whereas in Kairana, there is a direct contest between the alliance SP candidate Iqra Hasan and BJP's sitting MP Pradeep Chaudhary and on the Muzaffarnagar seat, there is a direct contest between the alliance's SP candidate former MP Harendra Malik and BJP candidate Union Minister Dr. Sanjeev Balyan. The reputation of RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary is at stake in these four Jat dominated seats. RLD has an alliance with BJP in this election. RLD is contesting elections on Baghpat and Bijnor seats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, RLD President Jayant Chaudhary have campaigned during the first phase of elections.

BJP had lost the last election on Saharanpur seat. Its BJP candidate Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma, Congress candidate Imran Masood and BSP candidate Majid Ali are locked in a tough fight. Today on Tuesday evening, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took out a road show from Aggarwal Dharamshala to Ghantaghar Chowk in Saharanpur city. Yogi Adityanath has come to campaign for Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma thrice before.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will take out a road show tomorrow on Wednesday in favor of Imran Masood. Mayawati had addressed the election rally in Deoband two days ago in favor of BSP. In Kairana, the BJP candidate is facing resentment from a section of Saini and Rajputs. BSP candidate Shripal Rana is breaking into the Rajputs. Because of Jayant Chaudhary, Jats are mobilized in favor of Kairana. Iqra Hasan is the only Muslim candidate in the election fray. This seat has the maximum number of 6.25 lakh Muslim voters. 27-year-old Iqra Hasan, having completed her higher education from London, is leading her own election campaign. She is trying to influence the voters by contacting them till late night. There is a close contest on the Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seat between two prominent Jats, Sanjeev Balyan of BJP and Harendra Malik of SP. Harendra Malik is getting the advantage of not having any Muslim candidate on this seat. Sanjeev Baliyan of BJP has the image of a strong leader. Due to his personal influence, his colleagues around him are engaged in the election campaign with him. Sanjeev Baliyan has won the last two elections. Last time he had defeated Chaudhary Ajit Singh. RLD's 34-year-old youth candidate Chandan Chauhan is contesting from Bijnor seat. He is the grandson of the first Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Chaudhary Narayan Singh, and the son of former MP Sanjay Chauhan. He is currently the RLD MLA from Meerapur seat of Muzaffarnagar and is also the national president of RLD's youth wing. Jayant Choudhary, who came for his election campaign, announced in the election meeting that there has been a nexus between RLD and BJP. That means workers of both the parties are contesting the elections in mutual coordination which is benefiting both the parties. BJP leader Sanjay Aggarwal says that the entire BJP is united day and night for its leader and worker Chandan Chauhan on Bijnor seat. Bijendra Chaudhary of BSP who belongs to Jat community is contesting well on Bijnor seat. SP has made its MLA's son Deepak Saini its candidate here. Deepak Saini is getting huge support from Saini community as well as Muslims. BSP candidate Bijendra Chaudhary is making inroads among Muslim voters. In such a situation, an interesting triangular contest is being seen on Bijnor seat.
