Bahraich: There was a dispute between two communities during the idol immersion on Sunday in Hardi police station area of Mahasi tehsil of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged during this period, stone pelting and firing was carried out by another community in Maharaj Ganj town, in which Ram Gopal Mishra (22), a resident of Rehuwa, who was involved in the idol immersion, was seriously injured. Those who were taken to the Medical College for treatment where they died during treatment.
Seeing the growing uproar, PAC was also sent on the spot along with the police of several police stations. Lathicharge was also done to control the crowd. The dispute took place during the Durga statue immersion journey.
Angry family members and people involved in immersion jammed the death of the young man and blocked the bodies outside the medical college. Immersion in the city has been stopped due to protests. Slogans against the police started raising slogans in the medical college. The police is currently monitoring the situation.
