Saharanpur. The unbridled increase in air fares has disappointed mango exporters. This time people from America, Russia, Australia, Japan and Gulf countries will be deprived of tasting Saharanpur's famous Chaunsa mango. A senior officer dealing with exporters said that during the last years, the air fare of mangoes was Rs 80 per kg, which has now increased to Rs 300 to 340 per kg. Due to this, the profit of exporters has ended. Saharanpur's mango producers have also suffered a huge blow due to the stoppage of exports. This time Saharanpur's exporter Tafzeel Ahmed is supplying Ramkela variety of mangoes to London firm Swaplan Dheelan. Pickle is made from Ramkela mango. This London firm buys this mango for pickle. New District Magistrate Manish Bansal has taken a new initiative and started serious efforts to put Saharanpur's famous Chaunsa mango in the IG tag category. There are mango orchards in 26500 hectares in Saharanpur. 4 lakh 77 thousand metric tons of mango is produced. According to District Horticulture Officer Gampal Singh, 18 quintals of mango is produced per hectare. Sunil Kumar Som of Marketing Department and Jagpal Singh Pundir of Mandi Parishad said that last year 30 thousand kilograms of Chaunsa variety of mango was exported to Australia, Russia and Qatar. Mumbai exporter Nitin Pandey is a big exporter of litchi and mango from Saharanpur. But this time he too has not been able to export either litchi or mango from here. The reason is the increased air fare. Exporters and mango producers demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should reduce air fare or give subsidy. So that the consumption and demand of Saharanpur mangoes also starts in foreign countries. Even though the export of mangoes from here has stopped, but in his capacity as Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Mandi Parishad, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has purchased Chaunsa mangoes worth Rs 12 lakh from Saharanpur. Four kilogram boxes of mangoes will be sent to Union Ministers, Governors and Judges on behalf of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. There is a Mango Pack House at the Saharanpur Mandi Parishad site where the mangoes are given vapor heat treatment at 52 degree Celsius for four hours using a Japanese machine and then they are kept at 10 degree temperature for two hours. Due to which these mangoes become completely germ free. The Chief Minister is going to send these mangoes to the VVIPs of the country.
