Congress demanded a discussion with the Election Commission on the results of the assembly elections held in Haryana. The Election Commission has accepted the Congress' demand. In fact, the results of the assembly elections held in the state on October 5 were released on October 8, in which the Congress had to face defeat. Congress has alleged 'irregularities' in the results.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the Congress delegation can meet the Election Commission officials at the Commission's office at 6 pm. NT Bhutia, Principal Secretary, Election Commission, said in the letter, 'I am directed to refer to the widely reported statement made by Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera on 8th October 2024, which appears to make a claim in the context of the recently concluded general election to the Legislative Assembly of Haryana, to the effect that 'the election results are unacceptable.'

Describing the statements as 'unprecedented' and 'undemocratic rejection of the will of the people', the Election Commission mentioned that it has taken note of the comments made by several Congress members, including Kharge himself and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. The Election Commission has now received a request seeking time to meet the 12-member official Congress delegation, including the members who made the statement. The letter said that the Commission has agreed to meet at 6 pm today at the Nirvachan Sadan.

What were the election results
Defying both exit polls and the 10-year anti-incumbency wave, the BJP won a third consecutive term over the Congress in Haryana. It was widely expected that the Congress would win these elections. However, the saffron party won 48 seats in the 90-member assembly, and the oldest party won 37 seats. Three independents and two Indian National Lok Dal candidates also emerged victorious.
