Saharanpur. A divisional review meeting was held in the Circuit House auditorium under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Dr. Rupesh Kumar and in the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Police Abhishek Singh to ensure the successful, safe, and smooth conduct of Kanwar Yatra 2026. The meeting was attended by the District Magistrates, Senior Superintendents of Police, Superintendents of Police, Chief Development Officers, Municipal Commissioners, and officials from various divisional and district-level departments from Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli districts. The Divisional Commissioner conducted a detailed review of the preparations of all departments related to the Kanwar Yatra and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements are completed within the stipulated timeframe, giving top priority to the convenience, safety, and smooth movement of pilgrims. He stated that negligence at any level will not be tolerated during the Kanwar Yatra, and that all departments should work in coordination. Reviewing the sanitation and toilet arrangements, the Divisional Commissioner directed that all temporary and permanent toilets installed along the Kanwar routes be regularly cleaned and that unsanitary conditions be avoided. He directed the concerned officials to deploy adequate sanitation workers and continuously monitor the cleanliness throughout the Yatra. Reviewing the security arrangements, he directed that all CCTV cameras installed along the Kanwar routes, major intersections, railway stations, bus stands, and other sensitive locations be fully functional. The concerned departments should regularly check the cameras' functionality and ensure continuous monitoring from the control room. Reviewing the lighting system, the Divisional Commissioner directed that adequate lighting be ensured along the Kanwar routes, camp sites, and other important locations, and that all pending work be completed within a week, so that devotees do not face any inconvenience during night travel. While reviewing the food and drinking water arrangements, he directed that all restaurants and stores operating along the Kanwar route be regularly inspected for registration, food quality, and prescribed rates. He said that it should be ensured that pure and quality food is provided to the devotees, and that rate lists should be displayed as needed. Reviewing the health department's preparations, the Divisional Commissioner directed that health camps be established at all designated locations, and that each camp be adequately staffed with trained doctors, paramedical staff, and ambulances. He also directed that all health camps be stocked with essential life-saving medicines, first aid supplies, and emergency medical equipment in sufficient quantities so that any emergency situation can be dealt with promptly and effectively. During the review of transportation and traffic arrangements, he directed officials to ensure effective implementation of the pre-determined action plan for traffic management. All arrangements for alternative routes, parking spaces, and traffic control should be completed in a timely manner, ensuring that the public and devotees do not face any inconvenience. While reviewing firefighting arrangements, the Divisional Commissioner directed that firefighting equipment be available at all sensitive sites and camps, and their functionality should be checked. The fire department was instructed to be fully prepared to deal with emergencies. Placing special emphasis on environmental protection, the Divisional Commissioner directed that a plastic-free environment be ensured during the Kanwar Yatra and that pilgrims and camp operators be encouraged to use eco-friendly materials. Reviewing waterlogging and disaster management, he directed that necessary arrangements be made by identifying potential waterlogging areas in advance. He said that rapid response teams should be active 24 hours a day in every district, and the Disaster Management Department should conduct mock drills to effectively deal with any emergency. All arrangements on national highways should be made by NHAI. Traffic signals should be installed to prevent any traffic disruption. Deputy Inspector General of Police Abhishek Singh directed police officers to ensure adequate police deployment along Kanwar routes and sensitive locations to maintain security and law and order during the Kanwar Yatra. He directed them to ensure traffic management, social media monitoring, prompt police response, and coordination with all departments to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the Yatra. At the meeting, the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police, Saharanpur, gave a detailed presentation of the preparations already made and underway for the Kanwar Yatra 2026 in the district. The District Magistrate of Muzaffarnagar and District Magistrate of Shamli, along with other officials, also briefed the Divisional Commissioner on the preparations and action plans made in their respective districts. District Magistrates of Saharanpur Arvind Kumar Chauhan, District Magistrate of Muzaffarnagar Umesh Kumar Mishra, and District Magistrate of Shamli Alok Singh were present at the meeting Kumar Yadav, Senior Superintendent of Police Saharanpur Abhinandan, Chief Development Officer Saharanpur Sumit Rajesh Mahajan, Chief Development Officer Muzaffarnagar Kandarkar Kamal Kishore Deshbhushan, Municipal Commissioner Shipu Giri, VC SDA Suraj Patel, VC MDA Pranata Aishwarya, along with officers from various divisional and district level departments were present. Senior Superintendent of Police Muzaffarnagar Sanjay Verma, Superintendent of Police Shamli Narendra Pratap Singh joined the meeting virtually.
