District Magistrate appeals to drivers to wear good quality helmets
Strict action will be taken against those using fake ISI mark and sellers

Saharanpur, Additional Secretary Consumer Affairs Department Government of India Bharat Kheda's letter addressed to the District Magistrate in which it was said to make consumers aware about helmets under the Jago Grahak Jago campaign. District Magistrate Manish Bansal said that it has been observed that poor quality helmets are being sold on the roadside without mandatory BIS certification, due to which many people lose their lives in road accidents. He said that strict action will be taken against those manufacturers who are working without BIS license or using fake ISI mark. DM Manish Bansal said that strict action will also be taken against such retailers who are violating the law and selling fake ISI mark helmets. He directed the concerned officials to take personal interest in this matter and ensure proper implementation of the quality control order. For this, a special campaign should be started against such manufacturers and retailers. Manufacturers who have BIS license can verify helmet manufacturing through Care App or https://www. services.bis.gov.in/php/BIS_2.0/bisconnect/knowyourstandards/Indian_standards/isdetails/. District Magistrate Manish Bansal said that wearing helmet is very important for safety of life while driving on the road. Along with this, it is equally important that the helmet worn should be of good quality otherwise the basic purpose of wearing it fails. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued an order making BIS standards mandatory on helmets, under which any helmet manufactured or sold without certification is a clear violation and offense under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
