Saharanpur, District Magistrate Dr. Dinesh Chandra directed all the officers to plant Napier grass on public land suitable for farming. He said that this is the right time for planting of Napier grass. He appealed to all the farmers of the district to produce more and more Napier grass and talked about motivating other farmers also. Dr. Dinesh Chandra directed that more and more Napier grass should be sown on the pasture land. He said that Napier grass can be produced throughout the year. Explaining its advantages, he said that production of Napier grass is a better option for self-reliance for continuous availability of green fodder, especially as nutritious food for destitute and dependent animals throughout the year. This is a nutritious fodder which will not only fulfill the food requirement but will also help in keeping the cows healthy. Due to the efforts of District Magistrate Dr. Dinesh Chandra, farmers have produced a large amount in the district. Due to which there has been an unprecedented increase in its area. Since last year, Napier grass was also sown in all the cowsheds of the district. The campaign run by the District Magistrate has brought new awareness among the nearby farmers. Due to the production of Napier grass, better arrangements have been established for the protection and maintenance of cattle.
