Amidst all this, now Aam Aadmi Party convenor and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has supported the ban on firecrackers in Delhi. Kejriwal has said that this is necessary to save people from pollution.

There is no 'Hindu-Muslim' aspect - Kejriwal

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that there is no 'Hindu-Muslim' aspect of the government's decision to ban firecrackers. Kejriwal has said that Diwali is the festival of lights and it should be celebrated by lighting diyas and candles instead of bursting pollution-causing firecrackers. Talking to the media, Kejriwal said that it is not that we are doing any favor to others. We are doing ourselves a favour because ultimately we and our young children will be the victims of pollution caused by bursting crackers.

Ban on all types of crackers in Delhi

Let us tell you that in the beginning of October, the Delhi government led by CM Atishi had issued an order to completely ban the manufacture, sale, storage and bursting of all types of crackers till January 1, 2025. Online sale and supply of crackers has also been banned in this order.

Diwali is a festival of lights - Kejriwal

The BJP had accused the decision to ban crackers of targeting the Hindu festival. On this, Kejriwal said that there is nothing like Hindu-Muslim in this. Everyone's breath and life is important. Kejriwal said that the Supreme Court and the High Court have also said that people should avoid bursting crackers in view of pollution. Instead, diyas should be lit because Diwali is a festival of lights.
