England breaks hearts once again to reach the semi-finals
Indore, The Indian women's cricket team suffered another close defeat in the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team lost to England by four runs in a thrilling match on Sunday. The defeat has made Team India's path to the semi-finals extremely difficult. Meanwhile, England secured a place in the semi-finals with this victory.
England, batting first, scored 288 for 8 and then restricted India to 284 for 6. This is England's fourth win in five matches.
This is India's third defeat in five matches in the Women's ODI World Cup 2025, leaving them in fourth place with four points. Besides England, Australia and South Africa have also qualified for the semi-finals. Now, only one semi-final spot remains.
Chasing England's target of 289, India lost two wickets for just 42 runs. These included the dismissals of Pratika Rawal (6) and Harleen Deol (24). However, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana (88) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (70) then put on 125 runs for the third wicket off 122 balls to keep the team in the match.
