The Indian team will play the T20I series at home from January 22. In this series, Team India will face England. A total of 5 matches will be played in the T20I series for which Team India has been announced. Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami returned to this team after about 14 months. 34-year-old Shami played his last match for India on 19 November in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad. After this, he remained out of the team for a long time due to ankle injury.
There are five such players including Yash Dayal, Avesh Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Vijay Kumar Vaishakh and Jitesh Sharma, who were part of the Indian team in the T20I series against South Africa in November last year, but now they have been shown the way out. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is looking for Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has been included in the team in place of Ramandeep Singh, while Mohammad Shami and Harshit Rana have been given a chance in place of Avesh Khan and Yash Dayal respectively. Wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma has been dropped and Dhruv Jurel has been given a place in the team.
RCB star did not get a chance
There is also a name who scored a lot of runs in domestic T20 cricket last year but still did not get a chance against England. The player we are talking about belongs to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Actually, Rajat Patidar has not got a place in the 15-member team selected against England. Rajat recently scored more than 400 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and played an important role in taking Madhya Pradesh to the final under his captaincy.
Patidar's bat scored 428 runs in 9 innings of 10 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. During this his strike rate was more than 181. He also made the record for scoring the most runs in this tournament as a captain. In the year 2024, he scored a total of 823 runs in T20 cricket but still he was ignored.
