ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has started. But just before this, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has lost his crown in ODI rankings. Team India's star batsman Shubman Gill has now become number-1 in the ICC ODI rankings. Babar Azam has been struggling with poor form for the last several months, due to which he has now fallen behind Shubman Gill in the ICC rankings. Now an interesting race will be seen between the two in the Champions Trophy 2025.

Gill's brilliant batting

Recently, Shubman Gill performed brilliantly in the ODI series against England. Gill played excellent innings of 87 runs in one match and 112 runs in another match. At the same time, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam looked futile in the tri-series. Now all eyes will be on Babar's performance in the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan team is playing its first match against New Zealand in Karachi.

Who is number-1 in bowling?

In the latest update of ICC ODI rankings, Sri Lankan spinner Mahesh Theekshana has reached the top of the bowlers' rankings. He has defeated Afghanistan's star spinner Rashid Khan and has been crowned number-1 for the first time. This is a big change at the top of the rankings just before the start of the Champions Trophy. The Champions Trophy tournament will run till March 9, it will be interesting to see whether anyone is able to take the place of these two giants or not.

Gill became number-1 for the second time

Team India's star batsman Shubman Gill has become number-1 for the second time. Even though he has defeated Babar, he is just 23 rating points behind Gill, while India's captain Rohit Sharma remains in third place. If Babar and Rohit perform well in the ICC, then Gill may slip down.
