CBI made Sandeep Ghosh reveal everything!
Kolkata, The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday added a charge of tampering with evidence against former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandeep Ghosh in the case of rape-murder of a trainee doctor. An official of the investigating agency gave this information. Ghosh is currently in judicial custody in a corruption case.
The officer said that the agency has also arrested Abhijit Mandal, in-charge of Tala police station, for his alleged involvement in the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor posted on duty at RG Kar Hospital. The hospital comes under the jurisdiction of Tala police station.
So far three people have been arrested in the rape and murder case. On August 9, the body of the female post-graduate trainee doctor was recovered from the seminar hall of the hospital in a semi-nude state.
CBI officials interrogated Mandal for several hours at the office located in CGO Complex here on Saturday, but he was arrested in the evening when he did not give satisfactory answers. The official said that both Ghosh and the police officer have been arrested for destroying evidence and other charges. Mandal is also accused of delaying the registration of an FIR in the incident.
The policeman has been questioned eight times before and each time he gave different statements. He has been arrested and will be produced in court on September 15, the CBI official told PTI. Earlier, Kolkata Police had arrested a civic volunteer Sanjay Roy in the rape-murder case. The case is now being investigated by the CBI after the order of the Calcutta High Court.
The central agency arrested Ghosh on September 2 in a case of financial irregularities in the hospital. The official said that the central agency had appealed to the court for Ghosh's custody. The official said that the court had asked the jail authorities to send him to CBI custody.
On August 9, the body of the female doctor was found in a seminar hall of the hospital, which had marks of serious injuries. The next day Kolkata Police arrested accused Sanjay Roy. On August 13, the Calcutta High Court had ordered the investigation of the case to be handed over from the Kolkata Police to the CBI. The central investigating agency had started its investigation from August 14.
