The statement said, due to reports of drone blasts and possible intrusion into airspace in and around Lahore, the US Consulate General in Lahore has instructed all consulate personnel to stay in safe places. Apart from this, the consulate has also received initial reports that officials may evacuate areas adjacent to Lahore's main airport.
It said, US citizens who find themselves in active conflict should evacuate if they can safely. If it is not safe to evacuate, they should stay in safe places.
The statement said, the US Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan will send updates via message. Please make sure you are enrolled in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Meanwhile, the air defense system in Lahore has been disabled by the action of Indian military drones.
India carried out 'Operation Sindoor' on the night of May 7, under which nine terrorist bases located within Pakistan were destroyed. This action was taken in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. 26 innocent people lost their lives in the terrorist attack.
During this operation, the Indian Armed Forces used 'Harpy' drones, which are designed to eliminate Pakistan's radar system and air defense network. With the help of these drones, the air defense system located in the city of Lahore, Pakistan was targeted. This action was taken when Pakistan tried to target several Indian military bases on the night of May 7.
