Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the state's budget of ₹8.08 lakh crore on 20 February 2025. This budget is 9.8% higher than the last time and has special emphasis on education, health, agriculture, infrastructure.

Main announcements

1. Infrastructure and transport

₹800 crore for green road infrastructure.

₹1000 crore for urban flood and drainage scheme.

₹400 crore to State Transport Corporation for expansion of bus fleet and depot development.

₹100 crore to purchase electric buses and ₹50 crore for charging stations.

Allocation of funds for four new expressways (Vindhya-Purvanchal link, Chitrakoot link, Agra-Lucknow Expressway extension).

2. Education and skill development

13% of the budget for the education sector.

₹24 crore for laptop and smartphone scheme for government employees.

Scheme to increase the student strength of Atal Residential Schools from 360 to 1000.

₹50 crore for Science Park, Science City, Observatory.

Scheme to give scooties to girl students.

3. Health and social welfare

6% of the budget on health services.

₹252 crore to Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana (for children orphaned in Covid-19).

₹971 crore in additional honorarium for Anganwadi workers.

₹100 crore for Mahila and Bal Poshan Yojana.

₹2980 crore under Widow Pension Scheme.

₹700 crore for Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana.

₹61,000 assistance under inter-caste marriage promotion and ₹55,000 for same caste marriage.

4. Agriculture and farmer welfare

11% of the budget on agriculture and allied services.

₹1050 crore under Mukhyamantri Kisan Accident Welfare Scheme.

₹509 crore for Solar Pump Scheme (PM Kusum Yojana).

₹124 crore to promote natural farming.

₹251 crore for Seed Park Development Scheme.

5. Women empowerment and employment

92,919 government jobs will be given through direct recruitment.

1.65 crore people will get employment in MSME sector.

₹170 crore for hostels for working women (Varanasi, Meerut, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra).

6. Rural Development and Housing Scheme

₹4882 crore for 36 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural).

₹1200 crore for Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural).

₹5372 crore to create 34 crore employment days under MNREGA.

7. Energy and Digital Development

Plan to develop Ayodhya as a solar city.

8 new data center parks will be developed.

₹4100 crore for urban water supply under AMRUT 2.0 scheme.

39 lakh new water connections will be given.

8. Financial Target and Revenue Collection

Excise tax collection target: ₹63,000 crore.

Stamp and registration revenue target: ₹38,150 crore.

Vehicle tax collection target: ₹14,000 crore.

After presenting the budget, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said,

"This budget is a blueprint for the sustainable development of Uttar Pradesh. We are focusing on infrastructure, technology, education and social welfare, which will benefit all sections.
