Woman commits suicide by hanging over minor dispute

Saharanpur, 25-year-old married woman Namreen committed suicide by hanging herself after a dispute with her husband over a trivial matter last night. The incident took place in Mohalla Gujran of Gangoh. The deceased was the second wife of Abdul Rehman. Hearing the news of Namreen's death, her brother Fariyad son Yakub reached Gangoh from village Bhura in Kairana. She filed a complaint in Gangoh police station against her brother-in-law Abdul Rehman, son of Ashraf and sister-in-law Salma, wife of Meharban, accusing them of harassing her for dowry and murdering her if her demand for dowry was not met. The police registered a case under sections 498 A and 304 B of the IPC.
Police Inspector HN Singh and CO Gangoh Munish Chand said that the police arrested the deceased's husband Abdul Rehman and produced him in the court. From where he was sent to jail. According to police, 32-year-old Abdul Rehman is a mason. His first wife died three years ago during the Corona period. Then he married Namreen, a resident of Bhura village of Kairana police station. He has three children from his first wife while he has a six-month old son from Namreen. Abdul Rehman's brother Councilor Haroon Chaudhary told that earlier there used to be frequent disputes between Namreen and Abdul Rehman regarding children. On the night of the incident, there was an altercation over Namreen removing the cooler that was going towards her stepchildren and placing it towards her child. After this both of them went to sleep in separate rooms. Hearing Namreen's scream around 12 o'clock in the night, Rehman opened his eyes and saw that Namreen was hanging from the door frame by a noose. By the time his family members brought him down, he was already dead.
