'Will neither drink nor let others drink'
People took a pledge to make the village alcohol-free

Motihari, there is a saying thaCt wisdom increases when hurt occurs, which means that until one faces loss, pain or failure, one does not gain experience of life. This saying is now being proved true in a village of Motihari. People have learnt from the deaths caused by poisonous liquor in the past and have now decided to make the village alcohol-free. People of Laxmipur village in Raghunathpur police station area of the district have taken a new resolution in the new year. They have vowed not to drink liquor, neither to serve liquor nor to let others sell it. Motihari SP Swarn Prabhat appreciated this initiative of the people and also administered an oath to them. The people of the village took a pledge together. All the men, women and public representatives of the village raised their hands in front of the SP and said, 'We, the residents of Laxmipur, take an oath that we will neither drink liquor, nor let others drink liquor, nor let others sell liquor.' On the occasion of the villagers taking oath, the district administration officer encouraged the people. He said that the people of this village have taken an oath not to consume alcohol.
"This is a good initiative. It will be implemented in the entire district. All the police station in-charges have been instructed to mark two villages in their police station area and make the villages alcohol and drug free. In the year 2023, several dozen people died in the poisonous liquor scandal in East Champaran district. Many people died due to consumption of poisonous liquor in many villages of Turkaulia block. Four people lost their lives due to poisonous liquor in a hamlet of Laxmipur village. People learned from this incident.
