New Delhi, Rain in the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday morning transformed the weather, bringing significant relief to residents from the scorching heat. Early morning showers across several areas, including Delhi and Gurugram, led to a drop in temperature, making the atmosphere pleasant and reducing the impact of the sultry heat.

The day began with rain showers, tempering the intensity of the heat. Light to moderate rainfall was recorded across various parts of the NCR, including Delhi and Gurugram. This weather shift was reflected in the temperature, which remained below normal levels. Many people were seen stepping out of their homes to enjoy the pleasant weather.

In contrast, the capital had grappled with intense heat on Sunday. Over the preceding 24 hours, a rise of 4.8°C in the minimum temperature and 2.9°C in the maximum temperature had been recorded. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures are likely to rise again, and bright sunshine is expected in the coming days.

Data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) shows that Sunday's minimum temperature was 26.2°C, which was 1.8°C below normal. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.5°C, 1.4°C below normal. However, a rapid rise in temperature was observed during the day.

Temperatures set to rise again over the next seven days

According to the Meteorological Department, dust storms with speeds of 40 to 50 km/h are likely between Monday afternoon and evening. There is also a possibility of light drizzle in some areas. The department estimates that the maximum temperature could reach 41°C to 42°C by June 20. Consequently, the relief provided by the rain may prove temporary, and the heat could once again become a source of discomfort for residents in the coming days.
