Patna, Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list released in Bihar, 1,69, 49, 208 counting forms were collected till 6 pm on Sunday, which is 21.46 percent of the total 7,89,69,844 (about 7.90 crore) voters. 65,32,663 counting forms have been collected in the last 24 hours. There are still 19 days left for the last date for submission of counting forms. At the same time, 7.25 percent of the counting forms were uploaded on the ECI net. According to the information given by the Election Commission, the initial phase of SIR in Bihar has been completed and the work of printing the counting form and distribution among the available voters has been completed.

The Commission reiterated that the draft voter list to be issued on August 1, 2025 will include the names of those persons whose counting forms have been received. According to the Election Commission, voters can submit/submit their documents at any time before July 25, 2025. If any document is incomplete after the publication of the draft voter list, the returning officer can obtain those documents from the voters whose names are included in the draft voter list during the investigation during the period of claim objection.

The Commission has said that all measures are being taken to facilitate the existing voters in completing the documentation. These existing voters will get time to submit the documents even after submitting their counting form first. This clarification has come after an advertisement of the Election Commission published in newspapers.

RJD demanded a stay on revision in the petition

In the petition filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of RJD, a ban has been sought on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. The party's chief spokesperson cum MP Dr. Manoj Jha has filed the petition. In the 180-page petition, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar has been made a respondent along with the Election Commission of India.

Manoj Jha said that there is neither enough time for SIR nor are the documents demanded by the Election Commission available with all the citizens. He has also objected to some valid documents (Aadhar card, ration card, MNREGA job card etc.) not being accepted in this process. Citing Article 32 of the Constitution in the petition, he has urged the Supreme Court for immediate intervention.
