Two women arrested for smuggling ganja worth Rs 18 lakh at Katni railway station

Katni, during night patrolling, Kotwali police of Katni district arrested two female ganja smugglers near railway station platform 5 and seized 1 quintal 20 kg ganja from them. The estimated cost of the seized ganja is Rs 18 lakh. Katni SP Abhijeet Ranjan said that these women had reached Katni from Odisha via Chhattisgarh.
Katni SP Abhijeet Ranjan said that all the police stations of the district are continuously running a campaign to catch illegal drugs in the district. Under this, the Kotwali police was on night patrol last night, when two women of Pardhi community were standing near a wall near platform number five of the main railway station of the police station area. When the police reached near them on suspicion, they got scared and tried to run away. When they were stopped and the sacks and bags kept with them were opened, they were found to be carrying illegal ganja. When they were arrested and questioned, both the ganja smuggler women told that they had reached Katni from Orissa via Chhattisgarh and they supply this ganja in Rethi and Panna districts of Katni. The Kotwali police arrested both the women and seized about 1 quintal 20 kg of ganja from their possession, the estimated cost of which is estimated to be Rs 18 lakh.
