Damoh, 49-year-old Bundeli artist, who made the entire Bundelkhand laugh with his performance, committed suicide by hanging himself after being harassed by usurers. For two days the borrowers were continuously harassing them. Police has started the investigation of the matter.

Please inform that Mahendra's father Rammanohar Gupta, who runs a hotel in Kishanganj village of Patharia block of Damoh district, reached home drunk on Friday evening. Mahendra asked his wife for some money. When the wife refused, then went to the father, asked him for money, but the father also refused to give the money. Angered by this, Mahendra went to the room and hanged himself. By the time the family knew, he was dead.

The close friends of artist Mahendra Gupta told that Mahendra was a very gentleman. He had no dispute with anyone in the village. He was maintaining his family by running a tea and samosa shop. He has two sons. Some people of the village had given him a loan. They were charging interest from them as per their wish. Mahendra was continuously drowning in debt. That's why he started drinking alcohol. It is not that he drank alcohol for the first time and committed suicide. Had drunk many times before also, but he did not say a single word wrong to anyone.
Debtors created pressure

On Friday evening, some borrowers had asked for money by pressurizing them. That's why he reached his home and asked his wife and father for money. When the money was not received, he committed suicide by going to the room of the house. The police have also accepted that Mahendra Gupta committed suicide under the influence of alcohol. The statements of the family members will be recorded, after which the actual cause of death will also be revealed. Mahendra Gupta was cremated in the village on Saturday afternoon.

If you do not get money, you will have to embrace death

Some close friends of the artist told that when the deceased was asking for money from his wife, she said that today she is in great need of Rs 3000 and has to give it to someone. When the wife refused, he said that if he does not get the money today, he will have to die. After this he said the same thing to his father. The family members did not understand the seriousness of his words. They didn't know, such an incident would happen. After some time of this conversation, he went to the room and hanged himself and died.

Used to act in local Bundeli films

Bundeli folk song artist Jittu Khare Badal of Kishanganj is famous for singing Bundeli songs. He has many Bundelis at the local level.

Make films and release them on YouTube. Mahendra Gupta used to act in those films. Jittu Khare says that Mahendra Gupta was a very straightforward person and used to perform well. He was fond of acting, so Mahendra Gupta has acted in many of his Bundeli local films. They are deeply saddened by his death like this. Apart from this, the artists of the entire Bundelkhand expressed grief over this incident and said that the artist of Bundeli talent being separated from us in this way is like a shock, it is difficult to compensate for this deficiency.
