Shivhar, Under the 'Long Term Maintenance Instructions' of drinking water supply schemes in every panchayat of Shivhar district, the quality of drinking water provided from water supply schemes has to be regularly monitored at the community level. In this sequence, training of selected pump operators on water quality testing, scheme maintenance was organised at the district level, training of trainers was organised in the Block Auditorium, Shivhar.

One selected pump operator/maintainer from each panchayat of the district participated in the training. The training was inaugurated by Executive Engineer, PHED. Representatives of international organisation- 'Water for People', State Advisor Rajiv Rana, District Assistance Specialist Ashish Kumar, Amit Kumar, provided technical support in the training.

In the training, 'Assistant Engineer' Guru Dutt Pandey of Public Health Engineering Division, Shivhar and District Chemist - Nikhil Mishra Kumar gave proper training on water quality and conducted practical exercises. All junior engineers and all sensors were also present in the training. Bihar government is committed to improving the water quality situation in the state.

Providing safe drinking water in rural areas is an important task. The goal of monitoring water quality on a regular basis is related to protecting water sources and supplying pure water at the village level.

Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal is not only about creating water infrastructure, but its objective is to build the capacity of all stakeholders responsible and accountable leadership for the ownership, management, operation and maintenance of water supply systems in the village. Community based water quality testing will help governments, ward implementation committees and communities to increase the testing of water sources on a large scale.

It was told that this will provide more information on water quality so that efforts can be made to improve it. The responsibility of taking remedial action on water will be of District Chemist, Public Health Engineering Division, Shivhar.
