District level committee meeting held under Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana

Saharanpur. A review meeting of the district level committee was convened under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana in the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Manish Bansal. In the meeting, DM Manish Bansal said that the objective of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana by the Government of India is to increase the business of traditional craftsmen and artisans by providing assistance to them. 18 traditional occupations have been included under this scheme, which include carpenters, boat builders, weapon makers, blacksmiths, toolkit makers, lock makers, sculptors, goldsmiths, potters, cobblers, masons, basket weavers, toy makers, barbers, garland makers, washermen, tailors, fishing net makers. He said that the objective of the scheme is to strengthen the artisans and craftsmen in terms of skills and financially along with respecting the skills. In this, 15 thousand rupees will also be provided to buy a toolkit after completion of training. Under this, eligible beneficiaries will be provided a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh along with training for setting up self-employment. On which only 05 percent interest will be charged. DM Manish Bansal said that the received applications will be verified through Lekhpals so that as many traditional artisans and handicraftsmen can get the benefit of the scheme as per the Prime Minister's intention. He said that after verification of 14339 applications received, a list will be prepared and sent to the state level committee through the district level committee. After selection under this scheme, free training will be provided to the candidates. After training, the candidates will be provided the certificate of Prime Minister Vishwakarma. On this occasion, District President BJP Mahendra Saini, former District President BJP Vijendra Kashyap, Assistant Commissioner Industries Dr. Banwari Lal and related officials were present.
