Shajapur, The festival of lights, Diwali, was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the district and on this day, women and girls decorated the thresholds of homes and establishments with colorful colors for the arrival of Goddess Lakshmi. The market was fully decorated since early morning for the festival of lights and shops ranging from sweets, garlands, decorative items and even Dhanis were opened early this year. The youth and children also enjoyed the fireworks. Traders prayed for happiness, prosperity and wealth by performing Maha Puja of Mahalakshmi at their business establishments during the auspicious time. The fireworks that started after this continued till late night. It is noteworthy that the festival of joy, which started early in the morning on Sunday, reached its full glory by the evening of Diwali and at the auspicious time, Maha Lakshmi was worshiped at the business establishments and wishes for happiness, prosperity and wealth were made. As per tradition, blessings were taken by touching the feet of the elders. It is noteworthy that there is a tradition of worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on the festival of lights and due to this belief, the markets were opened early and on the other hand, women and girls put their skills on the ground through Rangoli. Rangoli was made by decorating homes as well as business establishments.

The sky lit up with fireworks

On the occasion of Diwali, people worshiped Mahalakshmi with Swastika and Shriyantra at the auspicious time and most of the people worshiped at dusk as per tradition and set off fireworks. At the same time, special pujas continued in the city's only Gajalakshmi temple situated on the banks of the local pond. After the Mahapuja of Mahalakshmi, the sky was seen drenched in colorful lights in the dark night and people burst fireworks. Along with the children who were waiting for the great festival, the elderly people also celebrated the festival of Diwali with enthusiasm and due to this, while the sky was bathed in the light of firecrackers, on the ground there were scattered lights of garlands in the courtyards of the houses.
