Those who planted bombs on the tracks were sentenced to 12 years in prison
In Patna, Bihar, those who planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on railway tracks have been given a severe punishment. On Saturday, the NIA special court sentenced six people to five to twelve years in prison and imposed a fine in this case. In fact, on September 30, 2016, a "pressure cooker IED" was planted on the railway track to explode a passenger train coming from Narkatiaganj. However, it was noticed by the local people and successfully defused by the bomb squad.
The sixth accused surrendered in 2017
When the police investigated the case, it was found that six Naxalites had hatched a conspiracy together. Umashankar Raut alias Umashankar Patel alias Raju Patel, Gajendra Sharma alias Gajendra Thakur, Rakesh Kumar Yadav alias Rakesh, Mukesh Kumar Yadav alias Mukesh, Motilal Paswan alias Moti and Ranjay Kumar were found involved in it. After this, the NIA took over the investigation in January 2017. While three accused were initially arrested by the local police, two were later arrested by the NIA on different occasions. The sixth accused surrendered in February 2017.
Chargesheet was filed in July 2017
The NIA had filed a chargesheet against all the accused in July 2017. On September 24 this year, the NIA court convicted the accused. Now on Saturday, the NIA special court announced the sentence against them. It said that the sentences pronounced by the court range from five to twelve years of imprisonment with fine.
