The monsoon is currently very strong across much of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, this intense spell of rain will continue for the next three to four days. A heavy rain warning has been issued for many parts of the country today, July 22nd. According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds with speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are possible during the rain. Landslides in the mountains and waterlogging and flooding in the plains are also a risk.

According to the Meteorological Department's report, the states for which a heavy rain alert has been issued for July 22nd include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana (including Delhi-NCR), Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, and states in Northeast India (such as Assam and Meghalaya).

Weather in States
Delhi-NCR will experience cloudy skies today, July 22nd, and heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is possible. However, the weather is expected to clear slightly from July 23rd.
Most parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Agra, Prayagraj, and Kaushambi, will experience intermittent heavy rain until July 27th.
Several districts in Bihar, including Patna, Rohtas, and Nawada, are on alert for strong thunderstorms and heavy rain. This could cause waterlogging and traffic problems in some areas.
A red alert for heavy to very heavy rain is issued today for areas like Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, several districts in Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Nainital, Tehri Garhwal, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, and Champawat, are on alert for moderate to heavy rain from July 22nd to 27th. Thunderstorms are also expected during this period.
Flood-like conditions are prevailing in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The Meteorological Department has issued a continuous rain alert until July 24th, urging people to remain vigilant.
After a brief break, the monsoon has returned to Rajasthan. Rain is expected in most areas of Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Bikaner divisions between July 22nd and 26th.
The monsoon has also become active again in Madhya Pradesh. Rain is expected in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Mahakaleshwar, Agar Malwa, Rajgarh, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas, Bhopal, Bairagarh, Nabibagh, Raisen, Bhimbetka, Sanchi, Narmadapuram, Panchmarhi, Hoshangabad, and Narsinghpur.
A heavy rain alert has been issued for several parts of Punjab today. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also possible during this period.
A rain warning has been issued for most parts of Odisha from today until July 27th.
Several districts in Jharkhand are on a rain alert today. Rain is expected in Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, West Singhbhum, Hazaribagh, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Pakur, Sahibganj, Palamu, and Garhwa, among other districts.
