Home Ministry has formed a committee
The Home Ministry has formed a committee regarding the deaths at Rau's IAS coaching centre in Delhi. This committee has been ordered to investigate this incident in Delhi. Also, the committee has been asked to investigate the causes of death, fix responsibility, suggest measures and make recommendations for policy changes.
Who all will be included in it?
This committee of the Home Ministry will include Additional Secretary of the Government of India, Joint Secretary of the Home Ministry, Special CP of the Delhi Government, Delhi Police, Fire Advisor and Joint Secretary and Home Ministry Coordinator. The Home Ministry has formed a committee and asked it to investigate why the accident happened, who was responsible and how these accidents can be prevented in the coming days and submit a report. Also, it said that the committee will submit its report within 30 days.
7 accused arrested
Earlier, the Tis Hazari court sent the five arrested accused to 14-day judicial custody. The accused include 4 co-owners of the property and an SUV driver who had damaged the gate, leading to rainwater flooding the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle. Delhi Police has arrested 7 accused so far. The other 2 were coaching owner and coordinator, who were also sent to judicial custody after being arrested by the police.
Delhi Police sends notice to MCD
Meanwhile, continuing the investigation, Delhi Police has written a letter to the MCD seeking information about the steps taken for cleaning. Delhi Police said in a press release, "A notice has been sent to the MCD seeking information in the investigation of the case registered in connection with the death of three students at a coaching centre in Old Rajendra Nagar on July 27."
The police have also asked if any complaint was lodged with the civic agency against the coaching institute and what action was taken in response to it. A senior police officer said, “We may question MCD officials about the cleaning of drains and the approval certificate issued by them to Rau’s IAS Study Circle, where three students died after water got into the basement being used as a library.
