In the wake of the Prime Minister's appeal, there has been a surge of activity within government departments and ministries aimed at cutting down on expenses and adopting a policy of simplicity. In the national capital, the Delhi government has initiated preparations to implement a "Work from Home" arrangement for two days a week in government offices, with the objective of reducing both government expenditure and fuel consumption. Concurrently, plans are being developed to provide bus services to transport government employees from their homes to their offices, thereby minimizing the use of private vehicles. It is anticipated that this initiative will not only result in savings on petrol and diesel but also lead to a reduction in traffic congestion and pollution. Following the Prime Minister's appeal, several state governments have also swung into action to curb wasteful spending and strictly enforce policies of governmental simplicity. Amidst these developments, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has taken significant and stern action by issuing a show-cause notice to Saubhagya Singh, the Chairman of the Textbook Corporation. Reports indicate that a rally comprising approximately 200 vehicles was organized during Singh's assumption-of-office ceremony—an incident of which the Chief Minister's Office took immediate cognizance. The government has deemed this vehicular rally to be an act of wasteful expenditure, a display of power, and a direct violation of the administration's policy of simplicity. Consequently, pending the completion of the inquiry into the matter, all administrative and financial powers vested in Saubhagya Singh have been revoked with immediate effect. Furthermore, restrictions have been imposed on his access to the Corporation's office premises, official vehicles, resources, meetings, and staff. Through this decisive action, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has sent a clear message: while holding public office, ostentation, indiscipline, and the misuse of government resources will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
