The great festival Chhath is dedicated to the Sun God. The festival of Chhath lasts for four days. Lord Sun God is worshipped for four days of Chhath Puja. Chhath fast is observed for the long life of children, good health and happiness of the family. Chhath Puja is mainly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Mithila region of Nepal. On the first day of Chhath Puja, there is Nahai Khay. On this day, after bathing in the holy river, satvik food is eaten. Chhath fast is considered quite difficult. The four days of Chhath have different significance.
Kharna is observed on the second day of Chhath. On this day, Nirjala fast is observed from sunrise to sunset. After sunset, jaggery kheer is eaten after offering prasad to the Sun God. From this day onwards, the 36-hour Nirjala fast of women begins. On the third day, Arghya is offered to the setting sun. On the fourth day of Chhath Puja, the fast is broken by offering arghya to the rising sun at dawn. It is known as Usha Arghya. So let us know when the first arghya i.e. arghya will be given to the setting sun in Chhath Puja.
Chhath Puja 2024 When will arghya be given to the setting sun?
The first arghya of Chhath Puja will be given on 7 November 2024. On this day, arghya is given to the setting sun. According to the Panchang, Shashthi Tithi will begin on November 7 at 12:41 midnight. Shashthi Tithi will end on November 8 at 12:34 midnight. On November 7, Chhath Puja sunrise will be at 6:38 am. At the same time, sunset will be at 7:32 pm.
